Sandhurst Home page

A WARM welcome to the website of Sandhurst Cricket Club. We are a friendly cricket club, based in the historical English town of Sandhurst, Berkshire.

The 2013 season was the best season in the clubs history.

Following a mixed season in 2012 the club bounced back stronger than ever. Having been relegated from the Premier Division the 1st XI had been tipped to go straight back up an as champions by their peers, while the 2nd XI were looking to improve on a mid table finish in Division 3.

Over the summer months it was proven to be the best times in the clubs 25 year history, with both League side being promoted as Champions.
The club  is now sitting at its highest ever League status, with the 1sts led triumphantly back to the Premier Division, by Adam Birch, and Mark Clapham’s 2nd XI team sweeping all aside to take their place in the 2nd Division also Anthony Clapham's midweek XI reaching the T20 Cup finals.

The club has had every reason to be celebrating long into the winter months and look to take this
momentum into the 2014 season.

Chairman Simon Coxwell had this to say during the clubs presentation evening.

"Seasons like this don’t just happen because players hit the ball hard, bowl the ball straight or catch the ball well.  There has to be a deep strength and respect amongst the individuals off the field to allow the consistency of excellence in the performances exhibited on the field so regularly and thrillingly this year.

The level of comradeship throughout the club this year has been extraordinary and, to those of us who have been been at this club from the start and have seen the club grow from nothing, its quite emotional.  The likes of Martin and Chris Pharo, Aron Shallom, Des Sussex and Dave Robinson, can be  truly proud of all the success this year following the years of graft and hard work put into making this club what it is today

When you have a season like we had this year, their are many memorable moments and performances. To name a few.

1st XI
Adam Birch, Andy Tutty and Mark Feeney all scoring maiden 1st XI hundreds.
Anthony Clapham & Ross Fagan claiming 41 1st XI wickets.
Martin Pharo with a League best 6-13 bowling figures

2nd XI
Des Sussex matching his highest score of 123 not out.
Simon Coxwell leading wicket taker with 39 victims
Mark Clapham team best of 6-39 bowling figures

Sunday & Midweek XI
Ross Fagan's maiden hundred
Martin Bridges club best 7-11 bowling
Daniel Bird's maiden senior fifty"

2014 is looking to be an exciting year with both League teams looking to continue their form and put in some good performances against stronger opposition, while the club still looks to blood new and exciting talent into the senior setup with a mix of coaching and senior cricket being made more available.

Cancellation of Lashing 2014
(Simon Coxwell - Sandhurst CC Chairman)

The Lashings Event at Sandhurst on Friday July 18th is not going ahead.
This is due to poor corporate table sales putting us in a position where if we had proceeded without the security of the guaranteed income from corporate sales we would be exposing the club to a possibly serious financial risk.
It was our decision to pull out for the above reason.
We did pursue various options to try to go ahead and had lengthy dialogue with Lashings in recent days but reluctantly feel that we have made the best decision for our club.
It's important now to let know as many people as possible who may have been planning to attend that the event is not going ahead, so please spread the word either by sharing this or posting your own message to the same effect.
I'm really disappointed to be the bearer of this news and would like to thank those who have put in hundreds and hundreds of hours of their own unpaid time into the organisation of this event and they have no responsibility for the current situation.
We will be aiming to make a bigger day of the RMA fixture on the Sunday July 20th as the Marquee will still be there so please try to be available on that day.
